Julia Peters Bio.



Julia Peters Julia Peters co-founded Local Power in 1997, and has forty years of experience organizing political campaigns and administering large organizations. Peters' career first began in the Public Interest Research Groups (PIRG), initially serving as the Statewide Canvass Director of CalPIRG, and then as the National Canvass Director of PIRG itself. She also served as the Field Director for the strongest campaign finance reform California ballot initiative (Proposition 212), and was the Campaign Manager for Jerry Brown's successful run for Mayor of Oakland, California, in 1998. Ms. Peters ran Local Power’s coalition and nonprofit fundraising activities prior to 2007, managed San Francisco’s Proposition H campaign in 2001, helped to form and manage the San Francisco Community Choice Energy Alliance, and assisted in the defeat of California Proposition 16, a $50M utility attack on CCA, in 2010. She is currently engaged in implementation, outreach and education for Local Power LLC's CCA 3.0 program in New York.
